Morning DJ Billy Kirkwood is set to leave West FM after six years on the airwaves.
After entertaining morning commuters on the West FM breakfast show, stand-up comedian Billy has announced he will host his last show on October 28.
The funnyman, originally from Irvine has since signed on with Bring it On Talent Management.
Billy, who now lives in Kilmarnock, gave a heartfelt goodbye to his listeners when announcing his departure.
He said: “It’s time for a big change.
"I leave West FM with nothing but love and I’m truly going to miss being a part of people’s mornings; thinking about it breaks my heart how much I'll miss it.
"The support and love we’ve had over the years has been overwhelming, you’ll never know how much it's meant, it’s been a highlight of my life being an Ayrshire boy hosting Ayrshire show."
Ayrshire-based events company Bring It On say they're thrilled to have signed the headliner.
Founders Scott Booth and Jamie Haining said in a joint statement: “We’ve been working with Billy on and off over the last few years and we're so excited to welcome him to the Bring It On family. He’s born and bred in Ayrshire and is packed with energy, ideas, humour and an incredible creative mind.
“We’re constantly chatting about new plans, projects big and small that we can’t wait to get cracking on with Billy both off and on stage in Ayrshire and beyond”.
Billy added: "During my time it was the most listened-to show in the station's history and I’ll always be so proud of that. There will be a lot of tears before the last Billy Kirkwood at Breakfast.
"I live in Ayrshire with my wife and three boys and it was important to me to be able to keep contributing to the scene here and building on it.
"I’ll still be working on kids' shows, building on my public speaking, confidence skills, team building, improv and stand-up workshops to maybe bring in the next generation of performer.
"As the father of three autistic boys, I'll be working on ideas for making family connections, meets up and content for parents across Ayrshire.
"After chatting with Bring It On I knew this was a great fit and I'm mega excited to work for them and help them build on their plans”
