A Scots teen who has battled aggressive cancer for seven years has returned home from hospital after a round of gruelling treatment and blood transfusion.
Kira Noble, who was first diagnosed aged just 11, has relapsing neuroblastoma - a cancer that comes from immature nerve cells.
The Edinburgh teen's family hailed all those who donate blood as "lifesavers" after brave Kira completed a transfusion at Edinburgh Sick Kids Hospital.
Kira, 18, also completed a fourth round of chemoimmunotherapy.
Her mum, Auld Nobe, took to social media to provide the promising update.
The 55-year-old wrote: "This evening we left Lochranza Ward behind and headed for home after completing round four of chemoimmunotherapy combined with Lorlatinib.
"Kira was given IV fluids round the clock again to help her kidneys flush out and filter the drug combination she is receiving.
"She tolerated everything really well and had a reasonably uneventful week as inpatient."
She added: "We walked around the grounds of the hospital when a small break from drip stand fluids presented itself.
"The physiotherapy equivalent and keeping up muscle tone.
"Kira’s haemoglobin levels were low, so she received a blood transfusion on Saturday. Thank you to those who donate blood . . . and literally save lives.
"She also enjoyed Teenage Pizza Night during our stay.
"Huge huge thanks - multiplied by a million - as always to our Lochranza Medical Teams who just give the very best care every single day to the patients on our ward.
"We will return to Lochranza Day Care for follow up routine blood tests towards the end of the week."
Aud told Edinburgh Live : “Kira lives with Relapsing Neuroblastoma, she was diagnosed at age 11 and is now almost 19 .
"Neuroblastoma is an aggressive cancer that develops from immature nerve cells and can develop anywhere within the body.
"It most commonly originates above the kidneys in the adrenal glands. Kira’s primary tumour originally developed in her right adrenal gland, giving blood is so important."
She added: "Cancer patients often receive blood transfusions throughout their cancer treatments. Kira has had so many throughout the past eight years - I’ve honestly lost count.
"We are so incredibly grateful to people who kindly choose to donate blood and platelets. They are life savers.“
Hundreds of well wishers sent messages of support to the brave teen.
Jean Hilliard Fairgrieve wrote: "Fantastic that everything went well. Beautiful girl. Keep us all posted."
Dominique Seymour added: "You really are an incredible and amazing young lady, Kira. You have the most beautiful smile. So pleased it’s been a smooth week and you got to enjoy pizza too.What a lovely well deserved treat. Huge, big hugs."
