A 10-year-old boy has been left “extremely upset” after being threatened and robbed by a yob in Edinburgh.
The school boy was walking to the park with pals at around 5.30pm on Thursday, March 31, when he was approached by an older youth on Zetland Place.
The teenager, who was also with two friends, demanded the boy hand over his bag but began threatening the youngster when he refused.
The victim ended up handing over some coins before the suspect ran off towards Trinity Road.
An investigation has now been launched to identify the teenager who is described as being aged between 16 to 18, around 5ft 9in, of a medium build and has red hair.
The thief was wearing a black puffer-style jacket with the hood up, black tracksuit bottoms, black shoes and was carrying a black bag.
Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have dash cam or ring doorbell footage of the incident which took place between Stirling Road and Lomond Park.
Detective Constable Rich Paton said: “This was a nasty and horrible experience for a school child who was out with friends on the way to a park. He has been left extremely upset by the incident.
“I am asking anyone who saw what happened to get in touch, particularly if you have ring-bell or dash-cam footage. In addition if you know the suspect or anything else that could help with our enquiries then please contact us.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2620 of Thursday, 31 March, or contact the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
