ScotRail has apologised after passengers heading to Edinburgh were crammed into the train this morning as services were cancelled.
Those heading from Fife to Edinburgh were seen packed on the service that was due to arrive at Waverley at 8.40am on Thursday December 1.
With the 8.24am and 9.13am ScotRail trains from Dunfermline City (formally known as Dunfermline Town) cancelled, Fife commuters squeezed onto the running service leading to the aisles filling up with customers.

Despite being a popular route there were only two carriages on the peak time train. Thursday's morning service saw the doors between the carriages unable to close due to the amount of people standing.
One commuter said: "It's ridiculous there are only two carriages on such a busy service, I know it's normal but it's so frustrating!"
Another heading to Edinburgh Airport was worried she wasn't able to get out, but after awkwardly shuffling through, she made it off at Edinburgh Gateway.
The conductor urged people to store luggage in the correct spaces to ensure as many people could get on the train and advised passenger that they could get off at Inverkeithing to catch the next train to Edinburgh that had four carriages.
One took to Twitter pointing out the cancellations and said: "It won’t be ScotRail playing dominoes with the train’s AGAIN, I feel sorry for anyone braving the trains from Edinburgh on to the Fife circle (Dunfermline city side) and vice versa from Glenrothes . Scotrail when are you going to improve the reliability of the Fife circle?"
A second asked: "ScotRail What’s happening with the Haymarket to Dunfermline trains this morning?"
Replying to a customer asking why there were only two carriages on the 'overcrowded' Dunfermline train, ScotRail said: "The peak time 7.24am had four carriages today and the 7.45am had three carriages with the 8.03am running with two carriages instead of the usual four due to a train fault for which I apologise. All available carriages are in use and we always use every available carriage."
Phil Campbell, ScotRail Head of Customer Operations, said: “We know that one of the biggest concerns for our customers is busy trains, and we are really sorry to any customer who experienced overcrowding on their journey today.
“We run 2,150 services every single weekday and every available train we have is out on the network to get our customers where they need to be. Everyone at ScotRail is focused delivering the service our customers expect and deserve.”
