ScotRail is planning a CCTV upgrade at Irvine railway station in a bid to deter trespassing on the tracks.
The rail firm is seeking permission from North Ayrshire Council to install four new cameras that will overlook both platforms at the station.
A planning application for listed building consent shows the proposed 'anti-trespass' cameras would be mounted on the building canopy.
Supporting documents lodged with council planners say the move would provide enhanced coverage of 'concerning areas'.
The paperwork states: "Within this station, we are to provide more cameras and apply analytical rules to those cameras to provide trigger points to the CSC to provide early warning of any trespass onto the track from within the station.
"Existing CCTV locations will remain wth the infrastructure remaining in place."
There are currently 27 cameras throughout the station.
North Ayrshire planners will rule on the application in due course.
