ScotRail confirms exact date it will resume its full timetable

ScotRail has confirmed the exact date it will resume its full timetable.

The rail operator has been running a temporary timetable with fewer services since July 10, as train drivers were unavailable for overtime due to a dispute over pay.

Now that a pay deal has been agreed, ScotRail has confirmed that services will return to normal on Monday, October 7.

The firm is also planning on recruiting 160 new drivers every year in a bid to rely less on overtime work.

(Image: Jane Barlow/ PA) Mark Ilderton, ScotRail's service delivery director, said: "We are delighted to confirm that our full timetable will return on Monday.

"We have been working round the clock to deliver this in a very short space of time because we know how important a full service is to our customers.

"It’s been a difficult few months for our customers and staff, and we thank everybody for their patience.

"With a pay deal agreed and the full timetable back in place, everyone at ScotRail is focused on delivering a safe, reliable, and green service for our customers."

It comes after the all-day off-peak ticket prices trial ended on September 27, meaning tickets at peak times have more than doubled in price on some routes, such as Glasgow to Edinburgh which now costs £31.40 instead of £16.20.

As well as this, ScotRail is offering regular commuters an extra 20% off-season tickets for the next 12 months and 12 Flexipass tickets for the price of 10.
