Scotland weather warning issued as rain to bring flooding and travel chaos

Scotland will be placed under a yellow weather warning for rain on Friday as the Met Office warns the flooding of some homes and businesses is "likely".

The weather warning will be in place from 5am until 2pm on Friday will impact regions on the west coast of Scotland.

The Met Office have warned that bus and train services could be affected with journey times taking longer than usual and flooding on the roads could impact drivers.

Scotland rain warning

The Met Office warning states: "A band of heavy rain is likely to arrive across western Scotland early on Friday morning and move slowly eastwards, clearing early afternoon.

"20-30 mm, perhaps 40 mm of rain could fall in 2-3 hours. Heavy rain will also be accompanied by some strong, gusty winds."

The weather warning will impact areas in Strathclyde as well as the Highlands & Eilean Siar (Met Office)
