Scotland star Oli McBurnie denies charge of assaulting fan during pitch invasion

Scotland star Oli McBurnie has denied a charge of assault by beating. The Sheffield United footballer was allegedly involved in an incident following the club's play-off semi-final loss to Nottingham Forest.

McBurnie entered his not guilty plea to the amended charge on Thursday following an appearance at Nottingham Magistrates' Court. The Scotland international previously faced one count of common assault.

The charge alleges the 26-year-old striker assaulted Forest fan George Brinkley by beating on May 17 at the City Ground in Nottingham. Wearing a white shirt and a black tie, McBurnie spoke only to confirm his name, address, date of birth and his not guilty plea during a short hearing.
