The UK has experienced its coldest night of the year so far, with temperatures in Scotland dipping well below freezing. Braemar in Aberdeenshire recorded -15.7C in the early hours of Monday morning, the Met Office said.
The forecaster had issued a string of warnings for snow and ice for many parts of the country, warning people of significant delays whilst travelling and dangerous walking conditions.
