Alcohol-related deaths in Scotland are five times more likely amongst the most deprived groups, according to Public Health Scotland (PHS).
New statistics found "stark inequalities" among the poorest and most affluent adults who consume alcohol in terms of hospital stays and death statistics.
The figures were released as part of the Monitoring and Evaluating Scotland's Alcohol Strategy (MESAS) report 2022, published on Tuesday, which evaluated alcohol consumption, price and harms and inequalities.
