Scotland's next top supermodel five finalists revealed

These are our fabulous five finalists in the running to be crowned the nation’s next top supermodel.

The Sunday Mail teamed up with top London agency Select and Scotland’s No1 agency Colours to find a new catwalk beauty.

More than 3000 girls entered our #SCOUTMESCOTLAND search for a homegrown fashion queen.

Bookers at Select and Colours were overwhelmed by both the quantity and quality of the entries but it was this stunning group who came out on top.

The agencies now have the unenviable task of choosing a winner, who will be offered a once-in-a-lifetime contract with Colours and Select and the chance to grace the catwalks with supermodels Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner.

Here we chat to the finalists as they take part in a photo shoot styled by celebrity hairdresser Jason Hall and shot by top photographer Ifro Thomas.

Ryme Chatillon, 20, from Paris, living and studying in Glasgow

“If you had told me when I arrived in Glasgow in September as an exchange student from my uni in Paris that a few months later I would be the finalist in Scotland’s search for its next top model I would have laughed at you. Until the shoot I had never modelled a day in my life.

I have always been the tall, skinny girl with the ridiculously long legs and when I was a kid my family used to compliment me on my Naomi Campbell legs and it always stuck with me.

I’m a bit of an international soul as my dad is a French diplomat, my mum is from Chad in Central Africa and we have lived all over the world. As I travelled I started to develop a passion for fashion and that’s when it became a dream of mine to be a model.

When I came to Scotland to study at Glasgow Uni I made friends with one of Colours top models Mram and she encouraged me to contact the agency. I did and when they saw me they told me to enter the competition.

I am so glad I did as I had the best time and just loved being in front of the camera. I would love to become a model and do it all. At 5ft10 I could do catwalk or commercial. I would happily do whatever sails my way.”

Mirrin Christie, 16, from Balmedie, near Ellon, Aberdeenshire

"I’m 5ft 9in and all my life I’ve had a lot of people telling me I could be a model as I have the body for it. I had a burst of confidence when I heard about the competition and thought, ‘I’m going to try this out.’

I contacted the agency via email and a few weeks later I was told I had made the final.

I really enjoyed the photoshoot. It was my first experience of something like that. I liked how comfortable it felt. I expected I would have a panic attack and end up hiding in the toliet but everyone was so lovely.

The fashion world has become more progressive which I love. I like a masculine look. I’ve always worn baggy boys clothes which are a bit more out there but that style is huge. You now have women modelling men’s clothes.

I would like to do catwalk modelling and commercial. I love Alexander McQueen and walking for them would be crazy. I love travelling and it would be a dream to go all over the world with modelling.

I’m in S5 at Ellon Academy and am hoping to study drama at university. I think the two careers would go hand in hand.”

Lauren McCheyne, 17, Giffnock, East Renfrewshire

“I was really taken aback when I was scouted at Glasgow Caley Uni open day and they told me to enter the competition. I thought they were joking and it was not real but it turned out it was.

Although, I am really into my fashion and follow lots of style influencers on Instagram, I never thought of modelling myself despite one of my mum’s friends always telling me I should.

Before the photoshoot I had never posed in front of a camera and I found it very nerve wracking but everyone was so nice and I soon settled into it. It was lovely meeting the other girls and having my hair and makeup done. Such an amazing experience. I enjoyed being put outside my comfort zone.

I’ve definitely caught the modelling bug and feel so much more confident in myself. I would be open to doing all types of modelling but I’m probably more suited to commercial as at 5ft7 I’m a tiny bit short for the catwalk.

I am so glad I got scouted even though it unnerved me at first. I’m in S6 at St Ninian’s High School and am thinking of doing neuroscience or psychology at university. Hopefully I get taken on by the agency and can combine my studies with modelling.”

Lina Abdullah, 21, lives in Edinburgh, born in Sudan

“Colours scouted me after they spotted photos my friend published online for Black history month. I was taken aback when they told me about the competition and encouraged me to enter.

Although, I’m tall - 5ft9 - no one had ever suggested I could be a model, so when I was told I had made the final five I thought they were pulling my leg.

My family are really proud of me. We sought asylum in Scotland from Sudan when I was nine-years-old and my dad now works as a doctor in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

I’m freestyling life at the minute and working at a burger restaurant in the St James Quarter but I would love to make a career out of modelling.

The photoshoot was an incredible experience and I hope I get to do more. I just loved being in front of the camera.

I never thought someone as curvy as me would get taken seriously as a model but I now realise the industry is much more inclusive and diverse. I feel so proud to be a part of it.”

Chloe Ashe, 18, Polmont, Falkirk

“I was on a train heading home from uni in Edinburgh when I spotted the advert for the competition on Instagram. I looked at the date and realised there was an open call day that afternoon in Glasgow so I decided to skip the Polmont stop and keep going.

“It was the best decision I have ever made. Two weeks after the open call I got told I was one of the finalists. I had the best time ever at the shoot.

I have done a bit of modelling for Envy - a shop in Falkirk - but I’ve always wanted to do more but until recently I didn’t have the body confidence.

I have always struggled with my height. I’m 5ft 10 and I’ve been this height since I was 15 but taking part in the shoot made me see myself in a different light which was lovely. I am now at ease with how I look.

I would love to keep modelling as a part of my life and having my name associated with Colours and Select would be a real honour.”
