We all know Scotland is one of the most beautiful countries in the world – and it seems that one influential travel magazine agrees.
So much so, that luxury travel website Condé Nast Traveller (CNT) has even named some of its picks for the most beautiful places to see in our wonderful wee country.
CNT writer Sophie Knight said: "Scotland's landscape has long inspired poets and artists, drawn game-changing hoteliers and compelled celebrities to set up hideaways in the Highlands and islands.
"Here we round up the most beautiful places in Scotland, from the buzzy streets of Edinburgh to the dramatic coastline and silent countryside."
Here are some of the places they picked out:
Glenapp Castle, Ayrshire
The 19th-century castle is popular with visitors from all over the world, thanks to its luxurious rooms and fabulous views.
The Isle of Muck
CNT said: "Highland ponies roam freely on the Inner Hebridean Isle of Muck. Most of this tiny island is used for livestock; the native ponies wander across white-sand beaches.
"The Mermaid’s Pool – a swimming hole near the south of the island – is a deep limestone-lined spot where locals swim."
The Glass Barn at Isle of Mull Cheese, Isle of Mull
CNT said: "We named The Glass Barn one of the prettiest restaurants in Scotland for its views across the sustainable, family-run farm it sits on."
Eilean Shona
The beautiful Eilean Shona, which is an island off the west coast of Scotland, is where JM Barrie is said to have written the screenplay for Peter Pan.
Dean Village, Edinburgh
Flowing through the capital, the Water of Leith meanders through the idyllic Dean Village.
CNT said: "For a picturesque take on the city, wander along the river that sits at the foot of the village."
The Isle of Mull
The Isle of Mull was praised for its sandy beaches and quiet bays, the colourful harbour village of Tobermory, and the tall peak of Ben More which rewards. climbers with stunning views of sea lochs.
North Berwick
The unspoiled harbour town was singled out for its unrivalled views of the volcanic island of Fidra, which is said to have inspired Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island, as well as being a buzzing hub of independent cafés and smart stores.
Eilean Donan Castle
This incredibly photogenic castle is set on an island where three sea lochs meet in the western Highlands.
