Billy Gilmour has been challenged to go and prove himself at Brighton, despite the odd circumstances surrounding the Rangers youth product's exit from Chelsea.
The midfielder has been named in the Scotland squad for September after a turbulent couple of weeks. He was convinced by Graham Potter to join the Seagulls on a permanent basis from the club he left Rangers for as a teenager, before his new manager replaced Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea days later.
Scotland head coach Steve Clarke knows it's been a rough ride to the harsh realities football can bring but he believes regardless off boss, it's up to Gilmour to show his ability. He said: "He's not very lucky, Billy, is he? "Listen, I think Billy will be set in his own mind that he wants to play more football. He didn't feel as though he was going to get that chance at Chelsea.

"Obviously football can change very, very quickly as Billy has found out. He has got everything to play for at Brighton.
"They are going to appoint a new manager, it'll be down to Billy. His performances in training and in matches will dictate whether he gets picked to play for Brighton.
"So it's down to Billy to do that. . We can give him a little bit of comfort when he comes up. I know Billy well. He's a good character. He's determined to make a big career in football and we know he's one for us. We'll give him every support we can."
