Scotland star Billy Gilmour has been mingling with hip-hop royalty, after posing for a picture with rapper Snoop Dogg. The Chelsea midfielder posted the picture today on Instagram, with the iconic hitmaker posing with his arms around the 20-year-old.
Snoop, 50, made a surprise appearance at Chelsea's pre-season training camp in Los Angeles. Manager Thomas Tuchel has taken his squad to the States as they prepare for the Premier League season.
Chelsea will face Mexican side Club America in Las Vegas on Sunday, before taking on Charlotte FC and Arsenal later in the month. Gilmour returned to the side in the summer after a season-long loan at Norwich.
He looked delighted to pose with the platinum-selling rapper, despite their differing Old Firm allegiances. The youngster famously starred for boyhood heroes Rangers at youth level, while Snoop has been a Celtic fan since 2005.
After a stay at the Raddison Hotel in Glasgow in 2005, Snoop, real name Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr, was given a green and white striped jersey in by DJ Big Al. He has been seen sporting Celtic strips ever since.
Snoop famously said he would host an epic players’ party if Celtic were crowned Scottish champions last season.
He told the Record after The Hoops' 2-1 win against Rangers in April: “My Bhoys are not there yet but after their win against Rangers, they are getting close to winning the championship. Snoop hasn’t booked his ticket just yet but the passport is out of the safe. As soon as they are champions, you better believe I am on that flight to Glasgow.”
Celtic went on to clinch the title with a draw against Dundee United in May. Snoop was due to play at The OVO Hydro next month, but the gig has since been rescheduled, and the planned celebration party is still to happen.
The music icon was pictured with Chelsea stars including Jorginho and Kai Havertz. His appearance came on the same day Thomas Tuchel unveiled England star Raheem Sterling as his latest signing.
Chelsea are training at Dodger Stadium, the home of the LA Dodgers. The baseball side are owned by new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly.
