Scorpion Just Made A Helmet With Built-In LEDs And We Can't Have It... Yet

There’s a point in your riding life where you stop obsessing over horsepower and start obsessing over feel. Not just suspension or throttle response, but how your helmet behaves at 85 miles per hour. How stable it is when you turn your head on the straight. Whether you’re thinking about your braking marker or the hot spot forming above your temple.

Helmets are easy to overlook, especially when you’re riding at a high level. You’ll pour money into suspension, tires, data, coaching. Meanwhile, the one thing literally wrapping your head can get reduced to “good enough.” But when you’re pushing hard, your lid shapes everything. I mean, it could literally be the difference between life and death.

Now, Scorpion is not as popular as the likes of AGV, Shoei, or Arai, but just like the big brands, it has always leaned into that performance mindset. This is a brand with real racing pedigree. It’s not shy about going wheel to wheel at the highest level, and at one point it was the helmet of choice for MotoGP World Champion Fabio Quartararo. That kind of endorsement doesn’t happen by accident. It tells you the brand understands speed, aero, and what riders actually need when things get serious.

And the brand's new EXO-530i AIR carries that same attitude into a more street-focused package.

At first glance, it’s a clean sport touring full face helmet with a sharp rear spoiler. Then you notice something different. Integrated LED lighting is built directly into that spoiler. Not an accessory. Not an afterthought. It’s molded into the design to improve rear visibility in low light or bad weather. Riders can choose between red, white, green, and blue LED options depending on preference and local regulations.

The shell is shaped for aerodynamic stability at highway speeds, helping reduce lift and buffeting when you’re cruising at 80 to 90 miles per hour. Ventilation is handled through an aero-tuned intake and exhaust system that channels air through the EPS liner. There’s also a city position visor setting that allows a slight opening for airflow at lower speeds without fully cracking it open.

Inside, the AirFit system lets you fine tune the fit using an integrated pump that inflates internal cheek pad bladders. That snug adjustment helps cut wind noise and keeps the helmet planted at speed. KwikFit cheek pads make life easier for riders who wear glasses.

The shield setup is properly sorted. A Pinlock MaxVision insert is included in the box for fog free riding, and there’s an internal EverClear drop down sun visor for harsh daylight. The visor uses the Ellip-Tec II quick release system, so swapping shields doesn’t require tools. Safety wise, it carries ECE 22.06 certification in Europe and features emergency quick release cheek pads.

Pricing is set at 299.90 euros (around $357 USD per current exchange rates). For integrated LED lighting, adjustable fit tech, Pinlock included, and solid aero performance, that’s strong value. The catch is that it doesn’t appear to be officially available in the US yet. For American riders, that’s frustrating because the feature set punches well above its price point. Hopefully it lands stateside soon. For now, you’ll have to wait.
