Scissor Sister given taste of freedom with day out in Dublin

Scissor Sister Charlotte Mulhall has had her second taste of freedom in four months — with another day out of prison, The Star has learned.

Infamous murderer Mulhall, 37, was allowed out of Limerick prison in a below-the-radar day release in March.

It is understood Charlotte enjoyed a visit with family in the Dublin area, before being returned to prison.

It is her second temporary release from prison in just four months — with Mulhall previously being allowed out of the jail in November for another day’s release.

Sources say Mulhall is now inching ever closer to freedom with these increasingly frequent visits — and if she continues to be of good behaviour and engage in courses, she could soon be let out for several more days in a row.

It is understood Charlotte, who is serving a life sentence for the brutal murder of Farah Swaleh Noor in 2005, is undertaking several classes behind bars, and is working towards becoming a “model prisoner”.

Sources say it is now likely that Mulhall could be granted a full release from prison by the end of the year — or next year, if she continues to engage with the services provided to her.

And despite getting a second taste of freedom, it is understood Charlotte is not eager to ask for days out too often — and she hasn’t yet applied for another one yet.

If Mulhall is to walk free this year, she will have served 16 years for the notorious killing of her mother’s partner, in which she was assisted by her sister Linda.

Though she could soon enjoy complete freedom, Charlotte’s status as a ‘life’ prisoner will never change — and should she ever get into trouble on the outside she could be immediately returned to prison.

Notify

Under temporary release the killer would be required to sign on, and notify authorities of her whereabouts at all times.

Her sister Linda Mulhall is already free, having served 15 years for manslaughter — while Charlotte, who stabbed Noor up to 20 times with a kitchen knife, was convicted of murder.

The brutal killing which shocked the nation happened in the apartment of the sister’s mother Kathleen at Richmond Cottage, Ballybough in north Dublin.

Their mother Kathleen was meanwhile jailed in 2009 for impeding the investigation.

In an exclusive interview with this paper in 2018, Kathleen said she wanted to reunite with her newly released daughter, who she said hadn’t spoken to her in years.

“I’m tired. I really am,” she said.

“Sometimes I just think I don’t want to wake up anymore but then when Linda came out of prison it gave me a bit of hope to want to live again, but there was no contact from her.”
