Scissor Sister Charlotte Mulhall could be released from prison by the end of the year, we can reveal.
The infamous murderer, 37, who is serving life in prison for the brutal killing of her mother’s partner Farah Swaleh Noor in 2005, could walk free this year — after 16 years behind bars, if she remains of good behaviour, sources say.
It is understood Mulhall, who butchered Noor along with her already-released sister Linda, has been granted a series of day releases to see her family.
Her first day out occurred late last year, and sources say she has been granted further days out, provided she continues to engage with the authorities, and remains of good behaviour.
Sources say if Mulhall proves she can do that, her day releases will be extended to what’s known as temporary release — and she may never return to prison again.
Under temporary release the killer would be required to sign on, and notify authorities of her whereabouts at all times — but otherwise she will no longer be behind bars.
While the release is called temporary, bosses would hope that Mulhall would not need to be returned to prison in that case.
As Mulhall is a life sentence prisoner, she will technically continue to serve that sentence even if she’s fully released, which sources say is increasingly likely to occur soon.
If she commits a crime or breaches the terms of that release, she can immediately be brought back to prison.
Currently Mulhall is housed in Limerick Prison, and when released is escorted to Dublin to visit her family.
It is understood she has been granted more of these visit opportunities that are planned for the coming months.
Her sister Linda Mulhall is already free, having served 15 years for manslaughter — while Charlotte, who stabbed Noor up to 20 times with a kitchen knife, was convicted of murder.
The brutal killing which shocked the nation happened in the apartment of the sister’s mother Kathleen at Richmond Cottage, Ballybough in north Dublin.
While Charlotte stabbed Noor, Linda struck him with a hammer — with the sisters claiming he had tried to rape one of them.
They then chopped up his remains inside the bathroom of their mother’s apartment.
The pair then dumped Noor’s limbs and torso in the Royal Canal before taking his head on the bus to Tallaght in west Dublin, where it was believed to have been hidden in a park before being moved.
Their mother Kathleen was meanwhile jailed in 2009 for impeding the investigation.
In an exclusive interview in 2018, Kathleen said she wanted to reunite with her newly released daughter, who she said hadn’t spoken to her in years.
“I’m tired. I really am,” she said. Sometimes I just think I don’t want to wake up anymore but then when Linda came out of prison it gave me a bit of hope to want to live again, but there was no contact from her,” she said.
“She wouldn’t even answer a message that I sent her.”
Kathleen also told this paper she was dying of two serious lung conditions, and she wanted to make amends with Linda before the end.
“I’m dying. I have to have a lifesaving operation on my lung, it has a hole in it and it has gotten much bigger.
“Doctors say I have to get the operation to have half my lung removed and I’ve been on a waiting list for six months.
“They told me I could die from this at any time as it has become so serious. I also have COPD [Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease] on my other lung so I can barely breathe.
“I would do anything to hold Linda in my arms.
“I would give anything,” she said.
