The biggest Potentially Hazardous Asteroid in nearly ten years has been discovered hiding in the Sun's glare after scientists discovered what could be a "planet killer".
The 1.5km-wide space rock's uncovering comes after NASA last month smashed a spacecraft into a much smaller asteroid seven million miles away and managed to shift its orbit.
An international team, using the Dark Energy Camera (DECam) mounted on the Víctor M. Blanco 4-metre Telescope at Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory in Chile, a Program of NSF’s NOIRLab, discovered three new near-Earth asteroids (NEAs) hiding in the inner Solar System.
