Schools, districts, and youth organizations across the U.S. can now compete for $10 million in federal prizes tied to the revived Presidential Fitness Test, with individual cash awards reaching $1 million. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced the Presidential Fitness School Innovation Challenge on Oct. 1 at Westlake High School in Austin, Texas.
For parents, the program could shape gym class this school year. Submissions close on Feb. 5, 2027, so schools that want to compete have about four months to put the test in place and gather results.
