Schoolgirl taken to hospital for serious leg injury after being hit by car near Scots supermarket

A young schoolgirl has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car near a supermarket in Fife.

The crash took place at around 3.30pm on Saturday when the eight-year-old girl was standing at a pedestrian crossing near the Lidl store on Leslie Road in Glenrothes.

She was struck by a silver Kia Sportage and was taken to hospital where she received treatment for a serious leg injury.
