Schoolgirl footballer, 10, nets more goals than Haaland, Kane and Mbappe combined

Schoolgirl striker Amelia Morris knows how to hit the net and has outscored Erling Haaland, Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe combined with 143 goals in one season.

The 10-year-old is so prolific she has to be substituted at half-time in many matches to give other teams a chance.

Amelia only started playing in her junior team at the age of eight because of a lack of opportunities for girls.

But she is making up for lost time by banging in goals galore.

Manchester City star Haaland, Tottenham ’s Kane and PSG ace Mbappe scored 113 between them this season.

Amelia’s dad Jamie, who is also the team coach for Gurnos FC, in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales, said: “Ever since she was born she’s always had a ball in her hand or kicking it.

“But on the Gurnos [estate] we didn’t have any football teams for girls of that age, so she was eight when she started.

“Amelia has been playing for the under-10s this season. We’ve played all over South Wales and beaten pretty much every team.

“At the start, she was averaging about 10 goals every weekend but we had to bring her off half way through games because it was too easy for us.

“At that age you want everyone to be having fun more than anything, and it’s not much fun if you’re getting beaten by a lot. So we had to go easy on them.

“If we hadn’t taken her off she would have been on even more goals by the end of the season. We’re so proud of her. She has done so well.”

Amelia was awarded a trophy to celebrate her 100th goal of the season and Jamie hopes that her success will encourage more children to get involved.

He added: “The Gurnos area doesn’t get the best publicity, so it’s great for Amelia to get the recognition she has got for her achievements.

“Hopefully she will inspire other kids from around here too.”

Amelia is also a kickboxer and won gold medals representing Wales at a world championship held in Cardiff last year.
