A school is backtracking on a new policy that temporarily forced students to continuously wear lanyards listing their learning disabilities.
Parents of students at Werneth School, a high school in Stockport, England, pushed back on the policy as soon as it was announced last week, the BBC reported.
Leigh, whose daughter is neurodivergent, said her 12-year-old was "embarrassed" when she had to show staff her lanyard upon request.
"We're very grateful that the trust have revoked the lanyard policy that should never have been implemented," Leigh said, according to the BBC. "Well done to students to handling the awful situation they were put in."
The school initially warned any student who failed to wear or display their lanyard would face disciplinary action, but, following an investigation, the school decided "lanyards will no longer be used."
