Students and parents are eager to know if schools will be closed today as the ongoing monsoon brings heavy rainfall, waterlogging and the risk of landslides to several parts of India. According to the latest India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, heavy rain is likely in regions including Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and parts of Uttar Pradesh on August 21. However, no official school holiday has been announced for August 21, 2026, so far.
School holidays prompted by extreme weather are generally declared by state authorities, district administrations or individual schools based on local conditions and the severity of the situation. Parents and students should therefore keep an eye on official announcements from their local authorities and schools for the latest information.
