Thousands of homes left were left without power, hundreds of schools closed and major travel disruption caused as Storm Ciarán wreaked havoc in the UK.
Some schools may not be re-open until Monday after winds of more than 100mph and heavy rain battered the south of England and the Channel Islands causing chaos.
