Scottie Scheffler's seemingly inevitable march to a season-opening four-shot victory in The American Express could not completely overshadow Jason Day's blistering charge to tie for second.
Dominant world No.1 Scheffler was easily able to overcome a double bogey stumble on the par 3 17th hole as he secured his 20th PGA Tour win, posting a six-under 66 with nine birdies on the Stadium Course at La Quinta, California to finish at 27 under.
Having won six times in 2025 and seven times in 2024, the 29-year-old American showed no sign of slowing in 2026.
