SCHALKE have confirmed Rabbi Matondo is missing the club's pre-season trip to Austria through transfer talks.
The Bundesliga side told supporters Matondo was one of three players to miss the trip with Florian Flick and Beniamino Molinari out through coronavirus.
Matondo however missed the trip with the club confirming the player was involved in transfer talks.
Rangers are believed to have agreed a deal in principle with the Welsh international.
And, now Matondo is free to continue talks after dropping out of the pre-season trip.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst is still determined to add to his squad after the signings of Tom Lawrence and Antonio Colak.
And the Ibrox boss confirmed work is continuing behind the scenes with Ross Wilson busy talking to targets.
The Rangers boss explained: “Ross is busy. Of course we want to add more players to our squad and he is busy talking with players, talking with agents and clubs.
“Now we have so many people involved in those talks. I am hopeful that we can add more players in the coming week.
“We are busy. We have several players that we are watching and talking with. When it is 100 per cent we will communicate.”
