A huge house fire in Alderley Edge sparked a massive emergency response overnight — with nine fire crews scrambled out to the blaze.
The fire, on Wilmslow Road in the well-to-do Cheshire village, has since been brought under control, Poynton Fire Station said.
No casualties have been reported in the incident, reports CheshireLive.
“Crews are currently attending a building fire on Wilmslow Road in Alderley Edge,” Poynton Fire Station tweeted at 5:15am this morning.
“The main road is closed. A total of nine fire appliances and an aerial platform are in attendance.
“There are no reports of any casualties. The fire is now under control.”
In subsequent updates just after 6am and 7am respectively, the service added: “The number of appliances is being reduced to five pumps and one aerial.
“The fire is under control.
“Good progress is being made at the incident.
“Crews are working with partner agencies to mitigate the wider implications of the incident.”
Another tweet continued: “The main fire has been extinguished. Crews are continuing to extinguish pockets of fire.
“There has been some internal structural collapse which is making access difficult.
“The Wilmslow Road into Alderley Edge will remain shut for several hours.”
