Scarlett Moffatt has recalled the moment she came face-to-face with one of her old high school bullies at her local Asda following her successful rise as a reality star.
The 31-year-old spent years trying to carve out a career on TV – first appearing on flop MTV series Beauty School Cop Outs back in 2013.
She then found some success as a member of the cast of Channel 4 ’s hit series Gogglebox – and used her experience on that as a springboard to appear on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here in 2016, winning that years’ series.
After romping to victory on the hit reality series, Scarlett was left shaken when she ran into an old school bully at her local supermarket – but fortunately had a perfect put down up her sleeve.
Discussing her past troubles, Scarlett recalled to Heat magazine: “I think the worst day was when one of the people who bullied me had kicked me in a puddle and I was just properly drenched.”
Despite turning to school staff for help, Scarlett was left to face her bullies alone.
She recalled: “I can remember feeling really let down. I remember going to the headteacher and pouring my heart and soul out. [They] actually made my life a living hell.”
Things changed for her once she found fame on ITV – but one of her old antagonists attempted to re-write history when their paths crossed.
Scarlett claims: “I still live in the village I grew up in and sometimes I see the people that used to bull me.
“When I’d just won I’m A Celebrity, I was in Asda and this girl came up to me and said, ‘You know, I’ve got two young girls and I keep telling them we were friends!’ I just went, ‘I really hope your little girls never meet anyone like you when they’re at school,’ and I walked out.”
She added: “It just felty like a mic-drop moment, but it was a basket. I dropped my basket and left.”
While Scarlett clearly is successful and confident, she does sadly get targeted now she’s in the spotlight.
Earlier this month, the star was brutally mocked on live television by none other than Richard Madely during an appearance on Good Morning Britain.
The former Gogglebox star was discussing the fact she was due to sit her driving test – hoping to pass on her 14th attempt.
Richard did not pull any punches when he asked point blank: “Why do you keep failing? 13 is a heck of a lot of failures.”
Scarlett took the blunt question in her stride and giggled as she replied: “It is, isn’t it? I don’t know - if I knew that I would probably pass Richard.”
