Scarlets v Leinster team news as Wales duo return from injury

The Scarlets have welcomed back Wales internationals Tom Rogers and Aaron Shingler from injury as they face Leinster on Friday at Parc y Scarlets.

Rogers, who was capped by Wales in 2021, has recovered from a hamstring issue and comes in on the right wing, while Shingler is in line to play his first match of the season following a knee problem.

The returning duo are two of five changes made by Dwayne Peel to the side that lost to Connacht last weekend.

Scrum-half Gareth Davies, fly-half Dan Jones and hooker Daf Hughes all start - replacing Wales call-ups Sam Costelow, Kieran Hardy and Ken Owens. Elsewhere in the side, Ryan Conbeer runs out for his 50th appearance, while Steff Evans continues to partner Jonathan Davies in midfield.

On-loan Dan Thomas starts again on the openside, with Hughes and Shingler the only change to the pack that started in Galway last Friday.

On the bench, 19-year-old Archie Hughes, who has previously been tipped for a big future by Peel, comes in to provide scrum-half cover.

“We understand what is coming here. We know Leinster are a quality outfit and have strength in depth," said Scarlets head coach Peel. "They are well coached and well drilled. It’s going to be a big challenge for us, but we are confident we can get amongst them and try and upset them.”

Scarlets team: Johnny McNicholl; Tom Rogers, Steff Evans, Jonathan Davies (capt), Ryan Conbeer; Dan Jones, Gareth Davies; Steff Thomas, Daf Hughes, Harri O’Connor, Jac Price, Tom Price, Aaron Shingler, Dan Thomas, Sione Kalamafoni.

Replacements: Shaun Evans, Kemsley Mathias, WillGriff John, Morgan Jones, Iwan Shenton, Archie Hughes, Rhys Patchell, Corey Baldwin.
