Residents in Lower Wortley have woken up to a "shocking" crime scene outside of their homes after a 35-year-old woman killed last night.
At around 11.59pm on Monday (June 6) West Yorkshire Police were called to Bangor Grove following reports of a woman being attacked. She was taken to Leeds General Infirmary but was pronounced dead a short time later.
A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of her murder. Detectives from the force's Homicide and Major Enquiry Team are leading the investigation, which is being treated as domestic-related.

Police tape blocked off the area and scenes remain in place around Bangor Grove as forensic examination and specialist searches are undertaken. The woman's death has left residents in the area "weary" and in shock.
'I feel gobsmacked but nothing in this neighbourhood surprises me anymore'
Bob Twyford, 58, an out-of-work mechanic and driver, who lives on the next street, said: "I have lived here for 15 years. It is horrid.
"From 9.08pm last night, I heard banging and screaming. I heard noises. I feel gobsmacked but nothing in this neighbourhood surprises me anymore."
'It is just shocking'
Steven, who lives nearby, said: "I've only just heard about it. You hear about things on this street but nothing like this.
"It is just shocking. It is just awful that someone has lost their life."
Wary for the future as a resident
Shannon Driffield, 22, a mother of one who lives nearby, said it was "shocking" when she heard what happened.
She added: "You have to be a bit wary down here. I have not actually seem or heard anything about what's happened yet. It is a bit scary and upsetting when you think about it."
