If you’re trading billions of pounds worth of assets, you have to be aware of all possible outcomes, no matter how outlandish. Or at least, that’s what Danish firm Saxo Bank says is the motivation behind its annual “outlandish predictions” list.
What does Saxo think we have in store this year? Well, how about Robert F. Kennedy Jr winning the 2024 US presidential election? Polls suggest he has a long way to go to stand a chance, but the last decade or so of American politics has hardly been predictable…
Elsewhere, the bank sees a major health crisis as obesity drugs make people give up on exercise and an EU wealth tax that threatens the future of the luxury sector. Meanwhile, “a criminal group deploys the most deceptive generative AI deepfake the world has ever seen, phishing a high-ranking government official to hand over top-secret state information from a developed country” — let's hope Lord Cameron isn't easily fooled.
