As many of us unpack our Christmas presents from family and friends, next year's gift-giving seems like a lifetime away. But there are lots of savvy shoppers already thinking about their 2023 budget, and one woman has even gone as far as purchasing next year's presents in the sales.
The lady named Irene took to Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group to reveal that she has bought discounted gift sets ready to wrap next December. With a snap of her trolley piled high of Lynx and Dove aftershaves, Irene wrote: "This is next year's Christmas presents sorted, everything in picture is half price and 3 for 2."
While many shoppers praised her forward-planning and organisation skills, others were quick to judge and bash her decision.
"I thought people would appreciate me sharing this but seems some people are here to criticise me," Irene said.
"I thought this was a bargain hunting page no matter what day of year."
Her post has racked up more than 3,600 likes and hundreds of comments, both praising and criticising her.
"Well done on your bargains! I don' t ever get why people criticise! If you can get a bargain, get a bargain!" one shopper wrote.
Another agreed: "That's a great haul. Ignore all those who are slating it. I also went into town today with my children and we came home with some right bargains."
Others were put off by the idea of next Christmas and couldn't believe Irene could justify the money.
"How can you even afford presents for next Christmas let alone think about it," someone said.
"I honestly don't know how anyone could bear to do their Christmas present shopping at this time of year," a second put.
"I am amazed at how people can afford presents for next year Xmas and have the time and storage for them!" a Facebook user wrote.
"I'm skint and am loving the cupboard space again."
Though many people defended Irene's savvy shopping and mocked the envious critiques.
"Wow you lot need to grab another baileys and chill the f*** out. It's Christmas, stop getting your tinsel in a twist," someone joked.
"Why are people moaning for? Good for you I'll do the same if I had the room haha," another put.
A third added: "What is wrong with y'all - 'she got nothing better to do then shop on Boxing Day?'
"Kids always go spend there Xmas money the day after, she got her stuff for next year and not leaving it till last minute when yes everything is usually full price. Sounds like jealousy to me."
