There is something terribly evocative about the scents and smells of Christmas. The aroma of pine needles and the sweet whaft of Christmas cake baking in the oven are very nostalgic, bringing back memories of childhood festivities.
Well how about creating a whole festive aroma experience that will fill your home with scents of the merry season? That is what one Australian Instagrammer has done and her post has already attracted nearly 35k likes.
Melbourne-based mum-of-two, Chantel Mila, has achieved fame for her popular cleaning hacks. But her Christmas scent idea has tickled the sensory sensation of many of her 1.3 million followers.
Even the least proficient in the kitchen department could follow Chantel's festive hack, and it's affordable too.
In her video, she explains her method: "Boil four cups of water before chucking in one sliced orange," she beings, "this will give that signature zesty aroma."
"After that, add half a cup of cranberries, two sprigs of rosemary and different spices."
Then, she adds perennial Christmas favourites: two cinnamon sticks and one teaspoon of cloves.
''You can also add apples, star anise, fresh ginger, pine, vanilla or whichever smells remind you of the holiday season!''
Her followers have been bowled over by her simple remedy for a sweet-smelling festive house this Christmas.
''Save this one for when you’re putting up your Christmas tree,'' was one apt comment.
Another said: ''Let the scent will your home with festive joy!''
Others thanked her for getting them in the Christmas mood: ''This just got me so excited about Christmas.''
Finally, confirmation it works: ''I have done that many times. Love it. You can pretty much add anything.''
