SAUNAS and hot/cold tubs are set to be added to a Fife watersports base after a successful planning application.

Permission has been granted to install hot/cold tubs, two saunas and solar panels as well as provision of decking and parking at Elie Watersports at Elie Harbour.

A report from planners said the sauna would use existing changing facilities that are accessible to all customers.

It continued: “The proposed facilities would have proposed operating hours that will vary on a seasonal basis.

“These would operate as a maximum of between 9am-10pm, seven days a week. The proposed facilities would be powered by electricity that would be assisted by the proposed solar panels and battery storage.”

The report said that the proposals were not anticipated to adversely affect the integrity or stability of the natural dunes or have any significant impacts on protected natural habitats o species.

Approving the application, planners added: “The proposal is compatible with the area in terms of land use, design and scale and would not cause any significant detrimental impact to the setting of the category B listed harbour or the surrounding Elie and Earlsferry conservation area and the development is, therefore, considered to be acceptable.”
