Saudi Arabia has launched an investigation into how its air defence systems failed to stop a barrage of missiles and drones fired by Iran-backed Houthi rebels at Riyadh, including a strike on King Khalid International Airport that killed at least 13 people and wounded more than 300, two regional officials said on Monday. The probe will examine why the weapons reached the Saudi capital despite travelling more than 1,000 kilometres and why the military did not issue an earlier warning.
