Saudi Arabia’s 88-year-old King Salman was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday for what state media described as routine examinations. The state-run Saudi Press Agency did not provide further details but mentioned that he would be receiving care at King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Jeddah. Later on, King Salman was discharged from the hospital.
King Salman ascended to the throne in 2015 and has since appointed his son, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, as the kingdom’s heir apparent. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is widely believed to be overseeing the day-to-day operations of the kingdom.
