Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry issued a statement welcoming Australia’s decision to reverse its recognition of West Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
The statement affirmed that Saudi Arabia supports the Palestinian people’s aspirations to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the international law and the Arab Peace Initiative. It also urged international efforts to be exerted to resolve the Palestinian issue.
The Foreign Ministry reiterated the Kingdom’s “unwavering support” for the Palestinian people.
