Saudi Ambassador Walid Bukhari visits scholar Sayyed Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah. (Asharq Al-Awsat)

Saudi Ambassador to Beirut Walid Bukhari visited on Monday Scholar Ali Fadlallah at his home in the southern suburbs of Beirut, offering condolences on the 12th anniversary of the passing away of his father, Sayyed Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah.

The two officials touched on recent developments in Lebanon and the region.

Bukhari emphasized the importance of Lebanon’s pluralism, saying: “This diversity represents a positive aspect to expand the culture of endearment shared by the Lebanese people.”

He noted that the Kingdom “respects everyone and works for unity at the Arab and Islamic levels.”

He also praised Fadlallah’s discourse of openness and the school of dialogue, which was established by his late father.

For his part, Fadlallah stressed the importance of communication between Arab and Islamic countries and its positive impact on relations between other religious, sectarian and ethnic components.

He highlighted the necessity to stand by Lebanon in facing its current crises, warning against “Zionist projects that seek to exploit fragmentation and strife in Arab and Islamic countries.”
