Saturday Night Takeaway viewers were left in stitches when Hollywood guest star Toni Collette accidentally dropped a swear word pre-watershed on the usually family-friendly program. The Australian actress, who starred alongside Daniel Craig in the 2019 film Knives Out, dropped the s-bomb at the start of the show during its Saturday Night at the Movies segment.
Ant and Dec later apologised for the swearing, but fans had already spotted the actor's slip-up. Rather than find it shocking, however, some viewers took to Twitter to laugh about how out of place and funny they found it.
One fan joked that Toni, 50, was Australian and was likely more familiar with swearing than Brits, while another said a "post-watershed" version of the show would be "quite interesting".

The hosting duo later joked about the accident during another segment of the show, where they show real viewers in their homes at home - who have no idea if they would get to appear on screen. When families are greeted by the famous pair, it can cause quite a stir and an expletive exclamation might not be out of place. But Ant warned families against it, saying: "Do not swear, we've had one tonight and we're not allowed another!"
One viewer took to Twitter to say: "LMAOOOOOO I LOVE WHEN PEOPLE SWEAR ON LIVE TV WHAT AN ADRENALINE RUSH." Another said: "Very much enjoyed the pre-watershed ‘oh s***’ from Toni Colette on #SaturdayNightTakeaway."
"Toni Collette said 'S***'. Shocking...My kids will never sleep tonight," another joked. Someone else added: "#SaturdayNightTakeaway can always count on an Aussie to casually drop in swears on the norm."
Meanwhile, one annoyed viewer did not see the funny side. They wrote: "To say I’m outraged is an understatement. How on earth can this happen on a FAMILY show? I’m sat here shaking trying to figure out how to explain what this explain this to my little ones! The fact we have had to go through this surely warrants some apology."
