Saturday Night Takeaway's Stephen Mulhern 'unrecognisable' hours before series finale in Florida

Stephen Mulhern left Saturday Night Takeaway fans in a state of utter disbelief hours before the show's series finale in Florida.

Having sparked some concern from fans due to his lengthy absence from the show last year, Takeaway regular Stephen has been back for 2023, to play a key part in the latest run of Ant and Dec's hit ITV programme; overseeing some hilarious Ant v Dec challenges over the last few weeks.

Right at the start of the new series, Ant and Dec shared their delight that they'd be able to stage an overseas finale for the first time in five years; with Universal's Islands of Adventure once again their location of choice. As well as taking hundreds of competition winner who won a Place on the Plane, the Geordie hosts have also brought co-stars including Stephen, Fleur East and Andi Peters with them to Orlando to see the series out on a high.

The Saturday Night Takeaway team have had a busy week in the run up to the live finale broadcast, with Stephen celebrating his birthday in America. And, as the clock ticked down to going live on air, he left his Instagram followers in shock, with a photo he posted of himself looking startlingly different.

Islands of Adventure is home to a huge area dedicated to Jurassic Park area and, Stephen looked like he'd taken that as his inspiration to transform into Richard Attenborough's character from the famous film. With a white beard, linen shirt and trousers and a walking cane, Stephen looked a million miles from his Takeaway and In for a Penny self.

He captioned the picture: "I’m going to need to start using a better moisturiser! I’m looking like a dinosaur!"

Fans were quick to react, with one replying: "We saw and old man with ant and dec in the Jurassic world at the park the other day… didn’t realise that was you," with a second writing: "You look like colonel Sanders taking a break from frying chicken and going on his holidays! "
