Saturday Night Takeaway audience in hysterics over blunder as Ant dubs segment 'chaos'

Viewers, the studio audience and Ant and Dec themselves were left in hysterics during the opening segment of ITV's Saturday Night Takeaway on Saturday, April 1.

During the segment Ring My Bell, Ant and Dec - who were joined by Rob Beckett as the Star Guest Announcer - showed footage from video doorbells belonging to members of the audience.

Once they had determined whose doorbell it was - with the audience member shouting "that's my doorbell" - Ant and Dec challenged their neighbours watching at home to be first to dash to the house with a specified object and ring the bell to win themselves and their neighbour £500 each.

However, when the cameras panned to one audience member's doorbell, the video showed that there was a woman already ringing the bell - but she appeared completely oblivious to the game and had clearly just turned up by coincidence.

After discovering she was called Cynthia, a chuckling Ant told her she was live on Saturday Night Takeaway and asked if she'd taken the specified dirty laundry with her.

But instead of answering him, she looked rather confused as other neighbours in the area ran towards the doorbell with piles of dirty laundry in their arms.

Ant added: "Cynthia, I might need to speak to the people behind you. Don't press it again" - but she did, causing Ant to double over in giggles.

While he tried to get the players behind Cynthia to say "ring my bell" and get their names, Cynthia remained blocking the camera lens and Ant turned to the audience and viewers at home and said: "This is chaos."

"Ok, Cynthia. If you could just move out the way darling. Cynthia. Cynthia darling," he continued.

Asking the doorbell owner if she knew Cynthia - she did as a neighbour - Ant continued to press the others in the background for their names but Cynthia, once again, stood in front and presented her information, which caused Ant to shout: "Not you!" As the audience fell about laughing once again.

After struggling to get anywhere with this round of the game, Ant and Dec decided they'd circle back round to the neighbours who'd actually brought laundry later on.

And viewers couldn't contain themselves. One took to Twitter to say: "#SaturdayNightTakeaway Cynthia lmfao". Another added: "They need to give Cynthia £500 for that too. Take it out of Ant and Dec's hourly wages #SaturdayNightTakeaway", while Caroline Taylor said: "Cynthia is a star".

A third, @Nintendoubt815, and fourth, @sgordon_the87, commented on the hilarious blunder: "Ring my bell is absolutely brilliant telly. I'm sure that old lady just rang round for some sugar and ended up on national TV" and "Literally LOL-ing at Cynthia"

Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway continues next Saturday on ITV1 at 7pm.
