A satirical website urging President Donald Trump to deploy his youngest son to the Iran conflict has gained traction online, with the hashtag #SendBarron trending across social media platforms.
The site, DraftBarronTrump.com, was created by former South Park writer Toby Morton following the U.S. and Israeli airstrikes on Iran over the weekend.
The parody page opens with the line: "America is strong because its leaders are strong. President Trump proves that every day. Naturally, his son Barron is more than ready to defend the country his father so boldly commands." It concludes its header with the phrase, "Dog Bless Barron."
The website presents mock testimonials attributed to members of the Trump family. One quote attributed to the president reads:
"People come up to me, with tears in their eyes, and they say, 'Sir, you're the strongest. Send Barron off to war.' I've always been strong. Very strong. Stronger than anyone expected"
Additional spoof quotes are attributed to Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump.
The parody emerged as criticism mounted over the administration's handling of the Iran operation, which has resulted in hundreds of reported deaths, including at least four American service members. Trump has faced scrutiny for remarks suggesting the U.S. death toll could increase and for limited consultation with Congress before the strikes.
Social media users amplified the site's message, as The Independent reports. One user wrote on X, "#SendBarron. Would certainly send a message of solidarity with our troops" while another posted, "POTUS is chilling at his own country club while starting WWIII #SendBarron."
The question of military service has long been sensitive for the Trump family. The president avoided the Vietnam draft after receiving a diagnosis of bone spurs, which relatives of the podiatrist who provided it later described to The New York Times as a "favor."
Barron Trump, 19, may also face practical barriers to enlistment. At 6 feet 9 inches tall, he exceeds the maximum height limits for most branches of the U.S. military.
