Satin Blazers to Dress Up or Dress Down Depending on Your Mood and/or the Occasion

Just the right amount of luxe. (Credit: Courtesy of Nina Ricci)

There are some fabrics routinely labeled as fancy. Velvet, suede, silk and satin to name just a few. Although that doesn't mean they can only be brought out for special events. Especially the latter. If you look hard enough, you can uncover satin blazers that will jazz up any outfit, including a basic T-shirt and jeans.

Obviously, satin suits are great for wearing to weddings or sophisticated soirées. But the pairings also work as separates. The jackets in particular have endless uses. Try using them as layering devices. They can act as a second line of protection under a wool coat. You can also slip a turtleneck underneath for additional insulation.

Another perk of the shiny blazers is that they come in a veritable rainbow of colors. We managed to track down varying shades of white, blue, pink, purple, green and brown. Plus, there are plenty of patterns to play with. Like Magda Butrym's über elegant roses. Moschino lets you show your stripes in style. Etro's florals aren't spring's sole domain and Mango's dotted take really takes things up a notch. Looking for something on the subtler side? Dries Van Noten's jacquard number boasting a tonal pattern has you covered. (Sport, as Net-a-Porter suggests, with a silk-satin maxi skirt when you really want to stand out, except at someone else's wedding, of course.)

Picking up a satin blazer is also a smart strategy when it comes to your impending spring wardrobe. That's because they'll work just as well once the weather starts heating up again. Simply skip the wool coat and turtleneck and sub in a tee, either a long- or short-sleeve silhouette. Maybe even a tank top as we get closer to summer.

Keep reading to discover the most stylish satin blazers to incorporate into basically your year-round wardrobe. There are some really great deals thanks to all the after-holidays sales going on right now.
