British cycling star Sarah Storey secured her 19th gold medal at the Paralympic Games by triumphing in the women's C4-5 road race held in the Paris suburb of Clichy-sous-Bois. The 46-year-old Storey crossed the finish line just ahead of French teenager Heidi Gaugain after completing the 71-kilometer course in 1 hour, 54 minutes, 24 seconds.
Reflecting on her victory, Storey mentioned the strategic breakaway that led to a significant lead before Gaugain's attack in the final laps. Storey's understanding of French helped her respond effectively, ultimately clinching the win in a thrilling sprint finish.
Colombia's Paula Andrea Ossa Veloza claimed the bronze medal, finishing 20 seconds behind Storey, while Samantha Bosco of the United States secured the fourth position, 2 minutes and 39 seconds behind the winner.
Storey's remarkable Paralympic career includes victories in multiple disciplines, with previous gold medals in both time trial and road race events at the Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro, and London Games. She has also excelled in swimming, earning her first gold in Barcelona in 1992 and accumulating a total of 24 Paralympic gold medals across various sports.
