Sarah Jessica Parker has spoken about the double standards women face around getting older.
The Sex And The City star said she “does not understand” the cultural obsession placed on ageing and why men are not subjected to the same questioning women are.
Speaking to The Telegraph, the 58-year-old said: “I am so confused by the fact that the majority of men my age are simply never asked about ageing.
“We all wake up, have a million things going on, and just need to get on with our days — I just don't understand the emphasis that is placed on the pondering of ageing.”
The actress admitted that she has no plans to ever get Botox, saying it could negatively impact her acting career and added that she does not think her husband, Matthew Broderick, would like the idea of her getting the anti-wrinkle jab.
She shared: “I'm an actor — I have to move my eyebrows. I'm meant to be sharing emotions and communicating with my face.”
Elsewhere, Parker will follow her other half onto the West End stage when she appears in Plaza Suite next year.
She is starring alongside Broderick, known for Eighties teen comedy Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, in the play at the Savoy Theatre in London from January 2024.
Neil Simon’s classic play will continue to be directed by Tony Award-winner John Benjamin Hickey when it transfers from Broadway to London.
Broderick, who has won two Tony Awards for his Broadway roles, made his West End debut in 2019 when he starred in The Starry Messenger at Wyndham’s Theatre.
The 61-year-old actor and Parker, who have been married since 1997, said goodbye to audiences at New York’s Hudson Theatre in July last year.
They play three different couples in the comedy production.
Broderick has the roles of Sam Nash, Jesse Kiplinger and Roy Hubley; Parker portrays Karen Nash, Muriel Tate and Norma Hubley.
The characters, who appear over three acts, are described as the long-married Karen and Sam; former high school sweethearts Muriel and Jesse; and the mother and father of a bride, Norma and Roy.
