The royal family have been trying their hand at a new skill recently, by entering the world of podcasting.
The latest member of the royal fold to land an audio gig is Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, who earlier this month announced she would be the host of a new podcast, Tea Talks With the Duchess & Sarah.
Fergie, 63, shared an Instagram post on May 15 announcing the venture, teasing that it was “about time we spilled the tea”.
The show’s synopsis promises “candid conversations” between the Duchess and her co-host Sarah Jane Thomson, entrepreneur and founder of children’s news platform First News.
“With a cup of tea in hand each week you’ll hear about the week’s hot topics, as the hosts share their thoughts and perspectives on everyday issues. The duo will also be joined by special guests and share personal insights to listeners’ dilemmas,” the teaser revealed.
“These two great friends will approach everything with infectious enthusiasm and a healthy dose of humour. The Duchess and Sarah promise to leave no stone unturned, and no biscuit un-dunked."
While the Duchess, who is Prince Andrew’s ex-wife, claimed that the podcast would be launched that week, the first episode is yet to drop.
Fergie is already an author and film producer, and the podcast is just the latest of her business ventures. She has in the past complained of financial difficulties, describing herself as “continually on the verge of financial bankruptcy”.
Fergie is far from the first royal family member to launch a podcast, joining the likes of the Duchess of Sussex, Mike Tindall and her daughter Princess Eugenie.
Here’s everything we know about the podcast so far.
Who is co-hosting the podcast?
Fergie won’t be alone as the star of her new gig.
She will be joined by co-host and friend Sarah Jane Thomson, entrepreneur and founder of First News, a news organisation aimed at children.
Do we know who might appear on the podcast?
So far, there has been no word on who might join the two Sarahs on their show and It’s unclear what themes the pair will discuss.
However, Fergie has promised that the pair will take on some of the “biggest and strangest stories from around the world”, and that “No topic is off the table.”
Who else in the royal family has podcasts?
Last year, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, debuted her own audio show, Archetypes, exploring the relationships between women and society, and featuring a plethora of her A-list friends, including Serena Williams and Mariah Carey.
Mike Tindall, husband of Princess Anne’s daughter, Zara Tindall, is the host of a sport-themed podcast The Good, The Bad & The Rugby.
Fergie has perhaps followed in the footsteps of her daughter Princess Eugenie, who hosts a podcast, Floodlight, in conjunction with The Anti-Slavery Collective charity.
When will Fergie’s podcast be released?
Despite promising a launch two weeks ago, Tea Talks is yet to be released.
Fergie posted on Instagram on May 21 the show will be coming soon and available to listen to on all streaming platforms.
