Sarah Ferguson gives update on the Queen's corgis as they settle into new home

Sarah Ferguson has shared an update on the Queen’s corgis after she and her ex-husband Prince Andrew took the dogs in following the monarch’s death.

When Her Majesty was survived by her two dogs Muick and Sandy, many Royal fans voiced concern over what would happen to the beloved pups. The adorable pair made an appearance outside Windsor Castle during the Queen’s funeral to pay their final respects, in a touching tribute to the monarch who was known for her love of corgis.

The Duke and Duchess of York confirmed that they would take in the dogs after the Queen ’s passing, and now Fergie has given an update on how the dogs are finding their new home, The Mirror reports . The Duchess said that it was a “big honour” to have given a home to the Queen’s treasured pets.

According to The Telegraph , Fergie added that the pets were a “national treasure” and had been “taught well” by Her Majesty. She also shared that the pups had taken to following her around the Windsor home that she shares with Prince Andrew.

“The carpet moves as I move, but I’ve got used to it now,” she said. The Queen owned more than 30 corgis throughout her 70-year reign, having received her first dog Susan as a gift on her 18th birthday.

Muick was a gift from Prince Andrew and his daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, to keep the monarch company while her husband Prince Philip was in hospital. The Duke of York later gave her Sandy on what would have been Philip’s 100th birthday.

Prince William reassured mourners following the Queen’s death that the corgis were being “spoiled rotten”. He added : “They're going to be looked after fine, they're two very friendly corgis and they've got a good home.”
