Sarah Ferguson breaks silence for first time since coronation 'snub'

Sarah Ferguson has broken her silence for the first time since reports emerged that she has not been invited to the King's Coronation.

She made her first post on social media since reports emerged of the alleged snub.

It was reported at the end of last week that 'Fergie', the former wife of shamed royal Prince Andrew, has not made the guest list for the event on May 6. It has been claimed that Charles decided against inviting his former sister-in-law to the ceremony.

However, she still shares a home with Andrew and attended the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II last year, suggesting she has not been cast out of the Royal Family altogether, the Mirror reports. She has not commented on the claims made in several newspapers last week.

She has, however, since taken to social media to promote her new book and to share a fundraising appeal for a friend who is trying to reach Camp 1 on Mount Everest to raise awareness of motor neurone disease. She has a new historical novel, A Most Intriguing Lady, that was released last month.

In the fundraising tweet, she wrote: "This is my friend John Chart's last trek. John, who suffers from #MotorNeuroneDisease, climbs Everest to raise awareness about MND and how more research is needed. Support John by donating to help find a cure & share."

Fergie has shrugged off questions about whether she will be at the Coronation, after admitting last month that she had not received an invitation. She said in March: "Well I've decided the best thing about being British around a coronation - although I've never been to one - I think we should, I should set up a tea room at the bottom of the drive with bunting and cakes."

According to The Independent, Fergie will have to watch proceedings from home. A source: "She has been hugely supportive of Charles and Camilla and does not want this to become about her.

"The whole day is about the new King and the success of his reign but she has always championed the royal family and the Queen undoubtedly would have wanted her to be there."

Fergie was close to the late Queen, and now looks after two of her corgis, Sandy and Muick.
