Sarah Cawood’s new year was off to a fresh start, as she took a dip in an ice bath on Sunday.
The presenter, 50, plunged herself into an outdoor tub of water, filled with ice cubes, as one of her children filmed her and counted down the time she had left in the freezing water.
Wearing only a black swimsuit and keeping her hair down, Sarah worked on controlling her breathing as she sat down in the pool.
Uploading the clip to Instagram, the star captioned the video: “I did three minutes today!! My sister @emma.bryce.35 told me how to breathe and it made it much easier!”
Despite taking a freezing dip outdoors during one of the coldest months of the year, ice baths are beneficial at aiding muscle soreness as well as decreasing inflammation, which no doubt will support Sarah’s health as she battles cancer.
She opened up about her diagnosis with stage one breast cancer in September, and recently uploaded an image of herself to Instagram where she showed her bandaged breast after undergoing treatment.
She captioned the image: “CAWOOD’S YEAR IN REVIEW. Some fun times, some not quite so fun… the cancer can do one next year tbf. HAPPY NEW YEAR INSTA-FAM!”
Sarah underwent her first radiotherapy session in November and joked that the equipment looked as if it could “shoot lasers and missiles”.
During an Instagram video, she said: “I look like S***. I had my first radiotherapy today; I am actually really tired but I don’t know if that’s the radiotherapy or not sleeping or life in general”.
She continued: “It’s [radiotherapy] OK you have to lie really still with your boob out. The machine looks like something would launch a missile. It looks likes it will launch a laser”.
Her fans were quick to offer their support, with one writing: "Ahh so pleased it went Ok”, while another added: “Brave lady, big hugs and keep smiling”.
A third typed: “Keep smiling darling, glad it went ok”, and a fourth said: “Rest up Sarah”.
