Saoirse Ronan marries long-term partner Jack Lowden in secret ceremony

Saoirse Ronan has reportedly tied the knot with her long-term partner Jack Lowden.

According to the Irish Independent, the intimate ceremony took place in Edinburgh last weekend, attended by only their closest friends and family.

Official records from the Scottish civil marriages registry confirm that Saoirse Una Ronan married Jack Andrew Lowden at the Edinburgh Central Registrar’s Office.

The Irish actress, 30, known for her breakout role in the 2007 drama Atonement, met Lowden in 2018 while filming Mary Queen of Scots, where she portrayed Mary Stuart and he played her husband, Lord Darnley.

Speculation about their wedding began a year ago when fans noticed a diamond ring in a photo Lowden posted during a hiking trip in Scotland in July 2023.

He had shared a photo from the summit of Ben Vrackie in Perthshire, Scotland, featuring a hand adorned with a diamond ring, which fans speculated belonged to Ronan.

Despite receiving numerous congratulatory messages from fans on the post, the couple chose not to address or confirm the speculation at the time.

More recently, the couple posted a photo from the Glastonbury in June, showing Lowden with his arms around the Lady Bird star as they enjoyed the festival in the crowd.

The Standard has contacted Saoirse Ronan and Jack Lowden’s reps for comment.

Lowden and Ronan co-founded the production company Arcade Pictures with producer Dominic Norris. Their upcoming film, The Outrun, features Ronan as a recovering alcoholic returning to the Orkney Islands.

The couple, who purchased a home in west Cork in 2020, currently reside in north London with their terrier, Fran.

Although they have kept their relationship private, the Slow Horses star previously reflected on four-time Oscar nominee Ronan’s talent while working together on Mary Queen of Scots.

He told the i newspaper last year: “The woman is a force of nature, on- and off-screen, and utterly fearless and a brilliant leader as well.

“My first love is actors, and when you’re given a Ferrari like her, it’s all about how you make everything good for the Ferrari to show off.

“Don’t make a Ferrari do what a Renault Clio does. It’s a dreadful analogy but they’re like gold dust, good actors. When there’s someone like that, you just have to facilitate them and you will get gold. And my God, did we.”
